Not many people know where Malawi is. When I say it aloud, some folks think I am saying Mawi. Guess I should enunciate better! Or, I suppose, I could attach the word "Africa" to give people an anchor-- so they know where in the world I am talking about. 

Here's a map of Africa so that you can see where Malawi is located. It's a landlocked country. Considered to be part of sub-Saharan Africa. Almost 20 million people live there, and over half of them are women. Those women were once girls, and most of those girls did not complete high school. In fact, in this country filled with women, with over half of the population being female, only 7% of them have completed high school.

That's where my work is, right inside that sentence -- working to help girls who are among the 93% who are statistically doomed to domestic duties, farm labor outside the home, child marriage, teen pregnancy, and the list goes on.
